It’s finally warming up in NYC and spring is in the air.
As the temperature rises, the less I want to turn on my oven or stove and cook something hot. So, this week I wanted to give you something that is easy to prepare for breakfast and requires no heat.
Chia seeds help boost your energy, which makes them a perfect option for breakfast to get your day started. Here are a few of the many health benefits chia seeds have to:
- Keep your bones strong: It’s hard to believe but chai seeds have 500% more than calcium than in milk. Talk about doing the body good!
- Helps to prevent heart disease: Chia seeds are high in Omega-3 fatty acids, protein and fiber all of which help to improve your metabolic health (risk factors for disease).
- Reduce cholesterol: Chia seeds have been shown to help reduce cholesterol. Chia seeds turn to gel after consumption and researchers believe that this gel substance is crucial to helping clean out the body of harmful artery plaque known as cholesterol.
- Weight loss: These tiny seeds are full of fiber that help slow absorption of food and keep you full longer.
If you’ve never tried chia, it’s a nice treat. You can make chai into puddings so quickly and have a nice breakfast or snack treat not to mention a healthy choice to include in your healthy lifestyle.

APPLE CINNAMON CHIA PUDDING
Makes 2 servings
2 cups unsweetened dairy-free milk
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon liquid sweetener such as stevia (optional)
⅔ cup chia seeds
1 apple, chopped
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Add milk to a serving bowl and mix in vanilla and liquid sweetener (optional). Stir well and add chia seeds. Mix this well and allow the mixture to sit for 10 to 15 minutes. When the pudding is thick, top with chopped apple and cinnamon. Enjoy!
