Going Gluten Free for Weight Loss

Gluten Free (wheat) with copyI’m sure you’ve heard of the gluten-free revolution that is going on right now. Is it right for you? There are many people who definitely suffer from celiac disease and gluten sensitivities. Are you one of them?

I’m not but I have gone gluten free for several weeks at a time to help clean up my diet. What I realized is how many times I will grab a snack full of wheat when I could be reaching for healthier options such as full of life force fruits and veggies.

Sure, we all want a sweet treat and trust me, I have a sweet tooth. But if we keep reaching for cookies, muffins, cakes, bread, pasta to make us feel better, then we’re going to keep feeling worse because guilt, shame and disappointment in ourselves sets in. These are some ugly emotions to feel. In order to make ourselves feel better, we go for more sweet treats for instant gratification. It’s a vicious cycle and gluten could be an instigator. I can be for me.

When your meals contain too much gluten, it can possibly make you crave more gluten. Oh dear! If you are not careful, eating too much “wheat/gluten” food can result in overeating and under-nourishing your body. You will feel heavy in your body and it will be more difficult to lose weight.

So, why don’t you experiment and go gluten free for 2 weeks (a month if you can) and see how your body responds. You’ll experience:

  • Weight loss
  • Reduced inflammation in your body (inflammation leads to disease)
  • More energy
  • No more foggy brain
  • Belly fat disappears
  • Feel lighter in your body

Now, don’t go buying all the gluten free foods in the market. Yes, they are gluten free but can be very high in sugar. If a package says gluten free, it doesn’t necessarily mean healthy. Replace breads, cookie and pastas with vegetables dishes full of fiber or fresh fruit that is full of nutrients, fiber and water.

Here’s a tip: all nutrition comes down to is life force. Life force is your vitality and energy.

Life force is called prana in yoga or chi in Chinese medicine. If you keep eating a lot of dead foods, which are heavily cooked foods, pastas noodles, breads and processed foods, you will not be getting the life force from the foods that were intended to fuel your life force.

I’m not saying you can’t have cooked foods but its extremely important for your life force to eat raw, real, whole foods like fruits and vegetables.

If you have experimented with going gluten free I would love to hear what you results were. Leave me a message below and let’s chat.
